Principal Solutions Architect (Frontend Focused)

Andersen is hiring a Principal Solutions Architect (Front-End Focused) for an international project building scalable, high-performance headless commerce solutions for global retail brands.

The customer is a digital solutions provider delivering modern, scalable platforms and measurable business outcomes across industries.

The project focuses on developing fast, scalable headless commerce frontends, improving web performance, Core Web Vitals, and conversion rates, while leveraging AI-powered engineering practices to accelerate software delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Own front-end architecture using Next.js, React, and TypeScript.
• Lead decisions around SSR, edge/serverless rendering, state management, caching, and Core Web Vitals, documenting key choices in ADRs.
• Break down epics into actionable user stories with clear acceptance criteria and complexity estimates.
• Define coding standards optimized for engineers and AI agents.
• Work directly with clients during discovery to translate business needs into technical architecture roadmaps.
• Resolve technical ambiguity and unblock distributed engineering teams.

Must-haves:

• Experience leading front-end architecture decisions for distributed engineering teams (3+ people) for 3+ years. 
• Deep proficiency in React, Next.js (App Router, React Server Components), and TypeScript.
• Proven experience architecting enterprise commerce platforms (Shopify Plus, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce, or similar).
• Strong expertise in performance engineering and Core Web Vitals optimisation (LCP, CLS, INP, caching, CDN).
• Experience in structuring specifications, documentation, and tasks specifically for AI agent execution (Cursor, Claude Code, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills (client-facing, strategic alignment, explaining tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders).

Nice-to-haves: 

• Experience with headless CMS platforms (Contentful, Sanity, Contentstack).
• Experience architecting headless commerce or composable storefronts (Shopify Storefront API, SFCC Composable Storefront).
• Familiarity with testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Playwright).
• Experience with SCAYLE.
• Track record of working across distributed, async-first teams across multiple time zones.
