Mid-Weight Wordpress Developer (Remote)

The focus of this role is building bespoke WordPress websites for small businesses. You will work closely with our designers, developers and content writers to bring creative concepts to life.

The role is fully remote, with flexible working hours.

• Build bespoke WordPress websites using custom theme development.
• Convert approved designs into responsive, accurate and accessible websites.
• Develop custom functionality using PHP, JavaScript, jQuery and Advanced Custom Fields Pro.
• Create and manage custom post types, fields, templates and reusable components.
• Develop and maintain WooCommerce websites and functionality.
• Integrate websites with bespoke and third-party APIs.
• Test websites across different browsers, devices and screen sizes.
• Follow responsive, mobile-first and cross-browser development principles.
• Manage website hosting, DNS settings, cPanel and server-related tasks.
• Carry out WordPress updates, backups and ongoing website maintenance.
• Troubleshoot technical problems and resolve website bugs.
• Optimise websites for performance, speed and technical SEO.
• Use version control and package management tools throughout development.
• Collaborate with the wider team while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
• Maintenance of existing websites.

• Strong proficiency in English at least B2 level.
• Strong experience building bespoke WordPress themes without page builders.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, Sass, JavaScript, jQuery and PHP.
• Strong understanding of WordPress core, themes and plugins.
• Experience using Advanced Custom Fields Pro and custom post types.
• Experience developing and maintaining WooCommerce websites.
• Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as Bootstrap.
• Experience using package managers and build tools such as Gulp, Grunt or NPM.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
• Knowledge of responsive design, mobile-first development and cross-browser testing.
• Experience integrating bespoke and third-party APIs.
• Knowledge of hosting, DNS settings, cPanel and server management.
• Experience with WordPress updates, backups, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Ability to optimise website speed, performance and technical SEO.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
