Chromeos Hardware QA & Test Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Own first-line bug triage, classification, prioritization, component assignment and duplicate identification.
• Perform root cause analysis using system logs, crash dumps and trace data, and reproduce multi-device and peripheral issues.
• Author, review and submit best-effort software patches and verify cherry-picked fixes.
• Manage release candidates end to end, including branch cuts, nightly build qualification, validation, release-blocking criteria and sign-off dashboards.
• Meet operational SLAs, including P0/P1 triage under 4 hours, P2/P3 under 8 hours and 98% on-time RC sign-off.
• Work with internal engineering infrastructure, telemetry, debugging and access-management systems.
• Help automate bug triage and release operations with generative AI and agentic workflows.
• Cover a mandatory 4–6 hour daily overlap with US Eastern Time.

• Sustained engineering experience with Chromium OS and the Linux kernel.
• Experience with driver debugging, CVE backporting and troubleshooting USB, display, audio and power-management subsystems.
• Experience managing release candidate lifecycles, branch qualification and build pipelines for embedded or OS-level platforms.
• Proficiency in system log parsing, crash dump analysis and multi-device interaction debugging.
• Working experience with Git, Gerrit and enterprise issue-tracking platforms such as Jira.
• Ability to reliably cover a mandatory 4–6 hour daily overlap with US Eastern Time.
• Automation mindset and comfort using AI-assisted tools and agentic scripts for triage, root cause analysis and release work.
