Automation Test Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable automation frameworks for web, mobile (iOS/Android) and API testing using Java Maven projects
• Develop and maintain automation scripts with Selenium, Playwright, Appium and integrate them into CI/CD
• Implement BDD frameworks with Cucumber: feature files, step definitions and reusable components
• Write and execute BDD scenarios (Given/When/Then) and manage tags (e.g., @smoke, @regression)
• Configure automation via environment settings and Maven/TestNG
• Test web applications, mobile apps (Perfecto/Appium) and APIs (REST, SOAP)
• Validate end-to-end workflows across UI, API and backend systems
• Define manual vs automation split based on repeatability, risk and ROI
• Integrate automation suites into Jenkins, GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps for continuous testing
• Work with applications deployed in AWS: configurations, deployments and validation
• Lead and coordinate QA across functional, integration and regression phases
• Support release cycles with regression execution, defect tracking and quality reporting
• Maintain traceability between requirements, test scenarios and defects
• Collaborate with developers, product owners and architects to ensure testability and quality early

Skills & Experience Required

• 7–10+ years in QA with strong automation engineering focus
• Hands-on web, mobile (iOS/Android) and API automation
• Strong Java skills; experience with Maven-based automation
• Experience with Selenium/Playwright, Appium (or equivalent), Perfecto
• Extensive Cucumber (BDD): Gherkin feature files, step defs, tags/executions
• Hands-on TestNG and automation test configuration
• API testing experience: Postman, REST Assured or SOAP UI
• Familiar with CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
• Working knowledge of AWS and cloud-based testing
• Strong SQL for backend validation/data verification
• Experience with test management and defect tracking (JIRA, Zephyr, etc.)
• Clear automation strategy understanding and best practices
• Excellent problem-solving; able to work in fast-paced Agile teams

What This Role Is Not

• Not a pure manual testing role — automation is central
• Not a coordination-only QA role — requires deep hands-on automation
• Not suitable for candidates without coding and framework experience

Preferred

• Experience in banking/financial services or enterprise systems
• Experience building/scaling automation frameworks from scratch
