·       Provide technical expertise to fellow development team members.

·       Analyse and design effective solutions to business problems; research and prototype alternative technologies; and maintain awareness of business technology strategies, departmental standards and reuse opportunities.

·       Partner with globally distributed business users, product owners, architects and cross-functional IT teams.

·       Collaborate within an Agile development team to complete all SDLC activities from clarifying user requirements through to system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), deployment, DevOps and production support.

·       Design and build modern application back ends based on micro-services.

·       Work directly with business users during UAT execution phases and beyond.

·       Develop scalable and secure cloud-based solutions utilising a combination of open-source and Google cloud-native services.

·       University Degree (or above) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline

·       5+ years of commercial experience developing scalable software solutions in Java

·       Strong experience of building containerised micro-services with Docker; demonstrable skill in applying design patterns, SOLID and Clean Architecture principles

·       Either prior experience of, or willingness to learn, Python

·       Linux

·       Data technologies: SQL / NoSQL databases, in-memory caches, ETL/ELT etc

·       Kafka

·       Spring Cloud

·       Apache Beam, Spark, Flink, Airflow

·       Google (and later Azure) cloud-native technologies
